"I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God
so that you may know that you have eternal life." I John 5:13

  1. Understand what God wants:

Ephes. 5:17 "Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is."

Luke 16:15 "He said to them, "You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of men, but God knows your hearts. What is highly valued among men is detestable in God's sight."

Mark 7:7-8 "They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men. You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men."

Galatians 1:8-9 "But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!"

Proverbs 14:12 "There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death."

  2. Believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God:

Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

1 John 5:13 "I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life."

Hebrews 11:6 "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him."

  3. Repent of your sins:

Romans 3:23 "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,"

Luke 13:3 "I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish."

John 8:24 "I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am the one I claim to be, you will indeed die in your sins."

Acts 17:30-31 "In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. Fo r he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead."

Romans 14:12 "So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God."

  4. Confess Jesus as your Lord:

Romans 10:9-10 "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved."

Hebrews 13:15 "Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise--the fruit of lips that confess his name."

  5. Be Baptized for forgiveness of your sins:

Mark 16:16 "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned."

Acts 2:38 "Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."

Romans 6:4-5 "We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection."

Acts 22:16 "And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name."

  6. Love and Obey God:

Matthew 22:37-38 "Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment."

1 John 5:3 "This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome,"

John 14:15 "If you love me, you will obey what I command."

John 14:23-24 "Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me."

Luke 11:28 "He replied, "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it."

John 15:10 "If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love."

Hebrews 5:9 "and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him"

Matthew 19:17"Why do you ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied. "There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments."

2 Thes. 1:8 "He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus."

Hebrews 10:25 "Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching."
