For our guests, we understand that choosing a church home can be challenging.
What can I expect when I visit the Northwest Tampa Church of Christ?
First of all, you will be greeted either in the parking lot or at the front door, and they will help you get to where you need to go. You can expect a loving family to welcome you and accept you for who you are. Our services are simple. There will be worship with old and new songs, a simple message, and communion modeled after the teachings of the New Testament. Our goal is for you to walk out with a feeling of belonging, purpose, and direction.
What time does everything begin?
On Sunday mornings, our classes for all ages begin at 9:30 am. We have our Sunday morning worship time at 10:30 am.
On Sunday nights, during most of the school year, we have small groups that meet throughout the city in homes of our members. We also have a small group that meets here in our building at 5 pm each week. Check the website for more information about our small groups.
On Wednesday nights, we have classes starting at 7 pm and last for 45 minutes. Again, we have classes for every age. Also, starting in August, we have a meal at 6 pm to raise money for our Tampa Youth Missions program.
Where should I park?
As you pull into our parking lot, we have guest parking in the very front. There are several spots for our guests to park, and if they happen to be full, there is ample parking all around the building. Feel free to park on the grass as well.
What should I wear?
We have no dress code. You’ll see some men wearing suits and ties, and some women wearing dresses and hats. But you’ll also see people wearing jeans and t-shirts. Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. You won’t be judged.
Where should I enter?
While we have several exterior doors, the best place to enter is through the front doors. There are two sets of glass double doors in the front of our building. That takes you to our lobby. From there, someone will help you get to where you need to go.
What should I expect during worship?
Each week we, like the early church, share in the Lord’s Supper, a time of remembering Christ’s death and celebrating His resurrection. The Bible tells us we are to examine ourselves (I Cor 11:28) when we share this memorial feast. Believers are welcome to join us as we focus on the sacrifice Jesus made for us and the community He commissioned as His church. There is also a weekly offering. Your gift to us is your presence, the contribution is for our members, so please don’t feel like you have to participate.
Our singing will be without instruments, our message will be from the Bible, and our focus will be directed towards God.
What will my children do while I’m in worship?
Most every Sunday, we have what we call “Kid’s Kingdom.” This is for our children in Kindergarten through 4th grade. They will leave the auditorium after Communion and several of our adult volunteers will show them to our Fellowship Hall, where they will have members of our loving Children’s Ministry team dedicated to teaching them in a fun environment. We want our children to stay in the worship service for a while so they can understand the importance of being together with the church family, which is why we do not do Kid’s Kingdom for the entire worship hour.
We also have a nursery for our younger children. We have an attended nursery for babies 1-2 years old, and also for 3-5 year olds. Our hall monitor or security team will be happy to show you where to go.
How do I learn about becoming a member of the Northwest Tampa Church of Christ?
One of our elders or one of our ministers would love to talk to you about placing membership with our congregation.
